UW-Bothell’s Computing and Software Systems Speaker Series to feature Bahl May 4

The University of Washington, Bothell’s Computing and Software Systems Speaker Series will feature its keynote speaker, Dr. Victor Bahl, from 5:45-7 p.m. May 4 on campus in the North Creek Events Center. The event is free and open to the public.

The University of Washington, Bothell’s Computing and Software Systems Speaker Series will feature its keynote speaker, Dr. Victor Bahl, from 5:45-7 p.m. May 4 on campus in the North Creek Events Center. The event is free and open to the public.

Bahl will present “Owning the Problem in Wireless Research — An Exploration of Some Case Studies.” In this presentation, Bahl will discuss the landmark ruling by the Federal Communications Commission to open unused television frequencies, called white spaces, for unlicensed use. He will delve into societal, policy, technical and business issues that make white-space networking the next frontier of wireless Internet connectivity.

Bahl is a principal researcher and founding manager of the networking research group in Microsoft Research Redmond, responsible for directing research activities that push the state-of-the-art in the networking of devices and systems.
