Voters giving the nod to school propositions / Special Election

According to the latest results released Feb. 10 by King and Snohomish county election officials, two Northshore School District levy questions easily have gained the approval of a majority of voters.

However, based on these early results, passage of the system’s bond issue still is in question. Supporting capital improvements around the district, the measure needs a supermajority of 60 percent or better to pass.

“Last night’s election results lead me to be cautiously optimistic that the Northshore community has again stepped forward to support our mission of ‘Strengthening Our Community Through Excellence in Education,'” said Northshore Superintendent Larry Francois.

Francois made his comments after the first round of results were released Feb. 9. Francois added he wanted to thank both the volunteers who helped with the levy campaign and the voters who seem to be backing the schools.

“The Northshore community has a long and proud history of supporting its schools,” he said. “This election continues that tradition.”
