Carol (Mensik) Truly
Carol (Mensik) Truly, 52, recently of Bellevue, WA, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday 6 February 2013 in Bothell, WA. Carol was born on 4 May 1960 in San Diego, CA and moved with her family to Kirkland, WA in the late 1960s where Carol attended local schools and Juanita High School.Carol married Jeff Truly of Bothell, WA in 1983 at the Boone/Truly family homestead, and she soon became the proud mother of Sarah, Stephanie and Benjamin. Carol enjoyed raising her family in addition to helping with Jeff’s landscaping business and took on such jobs as cake decorating at a local bakery, and managing a Seattle company’s data entry department. She courageously opened her own bagel and coffee shop in Bothell in the early 1990s. Carol also joined in the planning of many Boone/Truly family events on the ranch in Bothell, including the branding round-ups held in October of each year. A knee injury and several subsequent surgeries left Carol much less active in the past decade due to complicated recoveries. She could no longer pursue her passion for tennis nor play on the Mill Creek Club team she had been a part of. Carol was a strong woman, and after many set-backs, was making her way forward with a new job and a renewed sense of purpose at the time of her death.Carol could be counted on for her common sense approach to life’s complications, her wisdom when dealing with difficult times, and her optimism that things would be better soon. As this new year began she wrote, “Doing Good! Life sure pitches curve balls…always learning…” Carol is survived by husband Jeff Truly of Bothell, WA, daughter Sarah of Bothell, daughter Stephanie and her fiancé Matt Donohoe of Everett, son Benjamin of Bellingham, mother Linda Merian of AZ, father Alphonse Mensik of Omak, WA, siblings Jim Mensik and wife Kimberly of Republic, WA, sister Cheryll, brother Michael, brothers-in-law Ty Truly and wife Diane, and Brad Truly, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.An informal open house will take place at the Truly Bothell home to honor Carol’s life on the afternoon of Friday 15 February 2013.
