The following is the Northshore School Board’s response to Superintendent Larry Francois’ pending resignation:

Message from Northshore School Board President

On behalf of the Northshore School Board of Directors, it is our honor to offer congratulations to Superintendent Larry Francois on his selection as the next Superintendent of Northwest Education Service District 189. As he begins the next stage of his career, we are sure Larry’s dedication and experience will continue to benefit thousands of students in the northwest region of Washington state.

When Larry began his tenure in Northshore in 2008, the district was in the middle of being rocked by the combined effects of an enrollment downturn and the Great Recession. Through his leadership and hard work, Larry not only conscientiously and systematically addressed those issues, but also continued to steward the district through complex years of enrollment growth, curriculum changes, and a constantly shifting regulatory and financial environment. His hard work on behalf of the students, staff and families of Northshore School District for the last eight years has been invaluable and will surely be felt for years to come.

In the weeks ahead, the school board will be providing updates as we begin the process of finding our next superintendent. We are committed to thoughtfully and thoroughly searching for a leader who will guide our district as we face the complex challenges of today, as well as the unbounded opportunities of tomorrow.

Sincerely,

Amy Cast, President
