Stop relieving yourself in the park | Letter

Apologies, the following is gross but a number of us are fed up with this situation.

Directly south of 80th [Avenue Northeast in Kenmore], across the road(s), is a city park. It is an area local residents like to use regularly. It is a nice place to walk their dogs, anytime of the year.

The city finally erected a park rules sign here and the homeless encampments have greatly diminished but the human poop in there seems to be much worse lately.

Someone is coming off the Burke-Gilman and relieving themselves. I actually saw him – or one of them – in bike attire. It also could still be being done by area homeless people.

Lately, it’s been happening regularly. Imagine, walking dogs and coming across that. I’m trying to be considerate to the readers here, but dogs will be dogs – and this mixed with now frequent encounters with human feces, enough said – gross! We have now had to stop going in there because of this. Which just isn’t right.

I don’t know what can be done.

Neighborhood awareness and vigilance is a start. More police patrols would be nice. Maybe a city parks porta potty?

Or… if someone reading this happens to be this person, you are a nasty human being and please knock it off!
