The Inglemoor High baseball team came oh so close to its first league win of the season on Monday in Bellevue, but the Vikings gave up a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh and lost 2-1.
Newport took an early lead in the bottom of the third inning, but Inglemoor (1-8 overall, 0-7) with an RBI single to right field from Spencer Radek to tie the game.
Newport (3-7, 2-5) led off the bottom of the seventh with a walk and a double, but the lead runner was caught out at home. Inglemoor’s Connor Portugal intentionally walked two batters and struck out a third, but came up the loser on a full count with AJ Riley at the plate.
Riley was walked, scoring a run for Newport and losing the game for Inglemoor.
Next, Inglemoor is scheduled to play Redmond High at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13 in Kenmore.
