The Bothell High School girls basketball team defeated Kentlake, 50-32, on Thursday at the Tacoma Dome.

The Bothell High School girls basketball team defeated Kentlake, 50-32, on Thursday at the Tacoma Dome. The win means that the Cougars advance to the second round of the championship tournament for a game against Snohomish at 3:45 p.m. at the Tacoma Dome.

Against the Falcons, Bothell jumped out to a 14-3 lead during the first quarter but Kentlake would keep pace for the remainder of the half, trailing 24-16 at halftime.

But the Bothell lead would grow as the Cougars started the second half with a 7-0 run and Kentlake trailed 37-23 entering the final eight minutes of play.

Bothell put the game away during the fourth quarter.

Taya Corosdale and Keyonna Jones led the Cougars with a combined 30 points for the game. Melinda Akoto also played a big part with nine rebounds and six points.

Snohomish defeated Lewis and Clark, 54-50, on Thursday during the first round.
