Bothell boys win thriller over Inglemoor | Prep basketball roundup

With Bothell leading by as many as eight, the Vikings came on strong in the fourth quarter to take the lead momentarily, until Cougar guard Zach LaVine grabbed a defensive rebound with 12 seconds left and laid in a runner with four ticks on the clock to give his team a one-point lead.

In by far the most exciting finish the Cougars have seen this season, the Bothell boys’ basketball team nipped rival Inglemoor on Friday night, at Inglemoor High, 77-76.

With Bothell leading by as many as eight, the Vikings came on strong in the fourth quarter to take the lead momentarily, until Cougar guard Zach LaVine grabbed a defensive rebound with 12 seconds left and laid in a runner with four ticks on the clock to give his team a one-point lead.

With a chance to win, the Vikings tried to get the ball in to point guard Chris Bryant, but Trey Miller’s buzzer-beater attempt rattled in and out.

A total of seven players combined reached double digits, four from Inglemoor and three from Bothell.

For the Cougars, LaVine had a game-high 33, with Perrion Callandret (22) and Kellen Webster (13) also contributing big.

For the Vikings, Chris Bryant, who came off a season-high 29 last game against Monroe, put up 26, and Sam Omondi (16), Brendan Lauck (13) and Cooper Danby (10) each added to the effort.

“We are getting better and growing as a team, (having) won four of the last five,” said head coach Ron Bollinger. “Tomorrow’s game at Issaquah (9-3 overall) will tell a lot about this team.”

 

Lady Vikings rout Bothell

In a 4A Kingco mismatch, the Inglemoor girls breezed by the visiting Cougars 55-13 last Friday.

Nine players scored for the Vikings, led by Kate Taylor and Kelly Conroy with 12 and 11 each, as they advanced to 4-2 in 4A Kingco play and 8-3 overall.

The Bothell girls are still searching for their first win this season.

 

Staudacher’s big night halts Northwest

University of Montana-bound Rachel Staudacher carried the Cedar Park Christian Eagle girls, scoring more than half her team’s points (26) in a 46-31 Emerald City League victory last Friday on the road.

Northwest kept in the game until the fourth quarter, when the Eagles’ defense held them to just six.

With the win, the Lady Eagles improved to 5-0 in league play and 6-5 overall.

On the boys’ side, the game turned into a rout as the Eagles jumped out to a big lead and never looked back, to a final score of 61-24.

Evan Schloten led all players with 15, followed by Jacob Kragerud with 12.

The win evened the boys’ record in conference play at 2-2, and got them close to .500 at 5-6 overall.
