The Bothell High girls soccer team clinched a spot in the conference tournament with a 5-1 conference win over Newport on Tuesday, Oct. 18 in Bellevue.

The Cougars (5-7-0, 5-9-0) scored three goals in the first half, and won for the second time in three matches.

Paiton Sabatini scored on an assist from Madison Hommer in the third minute, followed by a 20-yard bomb from Jacy Delgado in the fourth minute.

Kaitlin Bean scored on a 39th-minute header of a corner kick from Maiya Pacleb.

Bean scored her second of the game in the 47th minute on an assist from Estera Levinte, and Madison Homer scored in the 57th minute.

Newport (2-10-0, 2-11-1) scored in the seventh minute.

Regardless of how the final two matches play out, Bothell will finish with the fifth seed in the conference tournament.

The Cougars were scheduled to play Woodinville at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20 at Pop Keeney Stadium.

The Vikings lost for the sixth consecutive outing on Tuesday evening, falling to the league-leading Spartans at Pop Keeney Stadium.

Saya Brown came close to a shutout in goal for the Vikings (2-10-0, 2-11-1) with as many as eight saves, Inglemoor coach Kent Nelke said.

Inglemoor remains in the hunt for the conference tournament with two matches remaining. Next, the Vikings are scheduled to play Mount Si on Thursday, Oct. 20 in Snoqualmie.
