The Bothell High softball team held strong for the better part of three innings, but fell apart down the stretch for a 16-4 non-league loss to Holy Names Academy on Tuesday in Bothell.

The Bothell High softball team held strong for the better part of three innings, but fell apart down the stretch for a 16-4 non-league loss to Holy Names Academy on Tuesday in Bothell.

Headed into the third inning, Bothell (3-8) had held Holy Names Academy scoreless, giving up just one hit and two walks with two strikeouts from Brooke Powers. The visitors finally got a run across the plate on a single from Juliana Lynch in the top of the third inning.

The dam broke in the fourth frame, as Holy Names Academy scored six runs — including a two RBI single from Lynch — to lead 7-0 headed to the bottom half of the inning.

Bothell garnered RBIs from Brooke Powers and Meghan Powers in the fourth, but Holy Names Academy poured in nine runs in the fifth inning to put the game out of reach.

Lynch finished with three RBIs, a single and a double to lead Holy Names Academy.

Brooke Powers had two RBIs for Bothell, while Leah Sailer batted in one run and had a double on the day.

Next, Bothell is scheduled to play the Falcons on at 5 p.m. on Monday, March 18 at Woodinville High School.
