Bothell opens conference with sweep of Mount Si; Cedar Park loses to Kings | Prep volleyball

The Bothell High volleyball team came out swinging in the KingCo Conference opener on Wednesday, Sept. 28, rolling to a 25-23, 25-20, 25-15 victory over Mount Si at Bothell High School.

The Cougars (1-0 KingCo, 5-1) finished with 18 kills in the first set alone, and spread the offense evenly between six hitters.

Middle blocker Sydney Cowan led with seven hills on eight attempts. Senior hitter Alexa Torres and hitter Camille Gilmore had six kills, and Gabby Kepley, Maddie Butters and Sierra Meyers had five kills.

Lizzy Shrum and Noelle Sirmon split the time at setter, combining for 30 assists.

Next, the Cougars are scheduled for a nonconference match against Kings at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29 at Bothell High School.

Kings 3, Cedar Park Christian 1.

The Eagles lost their second conference match of the season despite a huge night from senior hitter Samantha Drechsel on Wednesday evening at Kings High School in Shoreline.

Drechsel finished with 27 kills in four sets, but the Knights polished off Cedar Park Christian with a 25-17, 10-25, 25-22, 25-18 victory.

Cedar Park (3-2 Cascade, 5-3) has lost back-to-back matches to the top two teams in the conference, but won’t face Kings or Archbishop Murphy until the final two matches of the regular season on Oct. 19 and Oct. 24.

Next, the Eagles are scheduled for a road conference match on Saturday, Oct. 1 at South Whidbey High School in Langley.
