Seniors Raynie Hultgren, of Bothell, and Mina Tanaka, of Inglemoor, shined last weekend at Sammamish High during the district gymnastics meet, earning the two all-around berths for the state gymnastics championships this weekend at the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Center.
Hultgren won the vault with a score of 9.575 and placed third on the beam (9.3) and floor (9.55).
Tanaka took the beam event by just .025 of a point over Newport’s Candace Ho (9.375-9.35), and tied for third with Hultgren on the floor (9.55).
For their performances, Hultgren and Tanaka will be able to participate in all four events at the state meet, which gets underway on Friday at 6:30 p.m. with the finals beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
For Bothell, Kelsey Meyer (bars, beam, vault), Julia Winters (vault, floor) and Marquesa Dixon (vault, floor) qualified for individual events, as did Kandra Hansen (vault, bars), Kira Olsen (bars, beam) and Jackie Tabone (bars) for Inglemoor.
