Bothell’s Stavig takes her game up a notch

Bothell's Sarah Stavig, a 15-year-old ninth grader at Skyview Junior High, doesn't pick on girls her own age. She has been competing in the 60-meter dash at collegiate indoor meets held at the University of Washington's Dempsey Center, where she practices with Seattle Speed, her track club.

Bothell’s Sarah Stavig, a 15-year-old ninth grader at Skyview Junior High, doesn’t pick on girls her own age.

She has been competing in the 60-meter dash at collegiate indoor meets held at the University of Washington’s Dempsey Center, where she practices with Seattle Speed, her track club.

Last Saturday, Stavig qualified for the finals and finished fourth with a time of 7.92 seconds in the 60 meters, a time which currently ranks her third in the nation as a freshman.

Stavig also competed at the Simplot Games at Idaho State University, finishing 20th out of 103 of the top high school runners from around the country. Her time of 8.00 was the best among all participating freshman.
