Bothell’s Devin Willis scored a game-high 17 points, followed by junior guard Kyle McAllister with 14.

The Cougars, at 8-8 in league play (9-11 overall), finished the league in a tie for sixth place with Ballard and will play Inglemoor Tuesday night in the first round of the double-elimination 4A Kingco playoffs.

Vikings shine at wrestling regionals

Led by team captain Daniel Nelson, who dominated the 152-pound division with three first-round pins, including an incredible 30-second win in the finals against Curtis High’s Ben Betteridge, Inglemoor High finished sixth out of the 21 teams wrestling in the 4A Region II tournament at Todd Beamer High on Saturday.

Nelson also set the new Inglemoor record at the tournament with his 25th career pin as a Viking.

Also going to state are Joey Speed, who placed second at 140, Jake Lowe (third, 171) and heavyweight Travis Bogard (third, 285). Mike Lambert at 189 will go as an alternate after placing fifth.

Mat Classic XXI is the largest state tournament of its kind in the nation, and will feature the state’s best wrestlers competing under one roof at the Tacoma Dome this Friday and Saturday.
