For Bothell and Inglemoor high-school athletes in three sports — wrestling, swimming and gymnastics — their seasons ended on high notes last weekend at the 4A state meets at the Tacoma Dome and the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.

At the Reporter’s deadline, one local basketball team had punched its ticket to state and four others were still fighting it out to qualify for the big dance. Inglemoor’s boys earned a state berth last Friday, but Inglemoor’s girls, Bothell’s boys and Cedar Park Christian’s boys and girls squads had to rumble along the tough road to state. Check www.bothell-reporter.com and www.kenmore-reporter.com for daily updates on their progress.

While a host of Inglemoor swimmers and wrestlers placed at state, Bothell’s gymnastics duo of Molly Michaluk and Tracy Tsujii blazed a trail of their own to the podium at the state gymnastics meet at the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Center.

Michaluk (36.6) and Tsujii (36.275) placed sixth and ninth, respectively, in the all-around competition.

On floor, Michaluk (9.8) finished a close second to Kentlake’s Kayla Shira (9.825). Tsujii took fourth (9.75).

On the beam, Michaluk (9.725) took third and Tsujii (9.4) notched seventh.
