With the 2014 NFL playoffs entering the divisional round this weekend, Representatives Suzan DelBene (WA-01), Jim McDermott (WA-07) and Adam Smith (WA-09) have placed a wager with Charlotte, North Carolina Members Alma Adams (NC-12) and Robert Pittenger (NC-9) on the upcoming game between the Seattle Seahawks and Carolina Panthers.
The Washington Reps will be putting up a basket of local Washington state treats that include: smoked salmon, beer from Redhook Brewery in Woodinville, Oberto Beef Jerky, POP! Gourmet Popcorn and 12th Can Pale Ale from Hilliard’s Beer in Seattle. Also included will be a bag of Skittles.
For the Carolina part of the wager, Rep. Adams will be wagering Bojangles chicken and Krispy Kreme Donuts while Rep. Pittenger will put up some delicious, slow-smoked North Carolina BBQ.
“This weekend’s game is going to be an epic clash between two of the league’s most dominant defenses. There’s no doubt it’s going to be a hard fought (and probably low-scoring) game,” said DelBene, McDermott and Smith. “While the Panthers may have their own ‘Superman,’ we’re confident that the Legion of Boom and Beastmode will prevail in the end and extend Cam Newton’s record against the Seahawks to 0-4. Go Hawks!”
“Just like the Falcons and Cardinals, the Seahawks are another bird to be gobbled by the Panthers,” said Congressman Pittenger. “Is it true they taste like chicken?”
“I am looking forward to seeing Cam and the Panthers go into Seattle and dethrone the champs,” said Congresswoman Adams. “It is going to be a great game. Let’s go Panthers!”
The Seattle Seahawks play against the Carolina Panthers on Jan. 10 in Seattle at CenturyLink Field at 5:15 p.m..
