District gymnastics: Bothell’s Taylor wins bars, North Creek takes second in team standings

North Creek’s gymnastics team finished second at the 4A KingCo/District meet with a score of 172.050 on Feb. 8 at Newport High School.

The Jaguars qualify for state as a team and feature Morgan Wyatt (fifth all-around with 36.175) along with Eva Zaro, Madisyn Armstrong, Yuka Baxter, Giovanna Calozza, Carlie Cohen, Allie Thomas, Ava Simmons and Sofie Flores.

Top Jaguar placers were: Wyatt tying for second on vault (9.400) and taking sixth on bars (9.000); Thomas tying for third on beam (9.200); Armstrong taking sixth on beam (9.150); Zaro tying for ninth on floor (9.200); and Calozza taking ninth on vault (8.475).

For Bothell, Cora Taylor (all-around) and Angelina Fogliato (floor) qualify for state. Taylor took fourth all-around (36.600), including first on bars (9.625), sixth on floor (9.275) and sixth on vault (9.050).

State qualifiers for Inglemoor are: Julianna Barker (vault, floor and beam) and Whitney Nakata (vault and bars). Barker took fifth on floor (9.300) and eighth on vault (8.500).

State will take place Feb. 21-22 at Sammamish High.
