IHS baseball cracks top 10

Inglemoor High came back to salvage one of three baseball games last week after cracking the top-10 rankings in the state on Monday. The state rankings, which are compiled by www.washingtonbasbeballpoll.com, had Inglemoor ranked No. 10 out of the Class 4A teams in the state.

A.J. Morrow and Anthony Vitulli each had three hits, including a double and two RBIs, as the Vikings scored seven runs in the seventh inning in an 11-1 win against Garfield on Friday. Jeff Postetter picked up the win by giving up just one run in five strong innings as Inglemoor improved to 8-5.

Track and field

The Cedar Park Christian track-and-field team came away with five individual titles and a relay title en route to running away with the nine-team Crescent Invitational on Saturday.

No team scored triple figures, except for Cedar Park, which ended with 212.5 points.

Zach Keene, who already holds the state’s top Class 1A 100-meter time, earned the third best 200-meter time in the state at 22.9 seconds. Teammate Jordan Scholten won the 100 meters, which Keene did not run, in 11.6 seconds. Scholten also finished third in the 200 (23.87).

Scott MacDonald turned in the second best shot-put throw in the state on Saturday, winning the event with a throw of 50 feet, 2 1⁄2 inches. Warren Bezanson came away with the fourth individual championship, winning the javelin at 156-7.

Keene, Scholten, Michael Tang and Lawrence Triff combined to win the 400 relay at 45.72 seconds.
