The dominating Inglemoor High fastpitch softball team (20-4 overall) ran through the field at last week’s 4A Kingco Tournament, defeating Woodinville, 1-0, in the tournament championship game to earn a berth into the 4A state tournament this weekend at SERA Fields in Tacoma.

In the pivotal winner-to-state game, a brilliant pitcher’s duel emerged between Inglemoor’s Rosie Matsumoto and Woodinville’s Madi Schreyer, with both players going the distance.

Taylor Peacocke was the hero for the Vikings, garnering all three of her team’s hits and scoring the winning run on a bases-loaded walk.

Matsumoto pitched a two-hit shutout and Schreyer, a freshman, struck out 10 for the Falcons in the tough-luck loss.

In previous tournament action, the Vikings outscored their opponents 33-2 in victories over Redmond (11-0), Issaquah (10-2) and Bothell (12-0).

Inglemoor’s state-tournament berth is the program’s first since 2007, when they placed third, and the Vikings have not won it all since 2004, when they beat Eastlake, 2-0, in the championship game.
