Inglemoor track and field athletes take six district titles

The Inglemoor High School boys track and field team finished third overall, while the girls team finished fifth, during the 4A Sea-King District track and field meet held May 20 and 22. The boys team scored 66 points, while the girls had 64 points.

Michael Rhoads led the team by taking the district crown in the 400-meter dash in a time of 48.93 seconds. Rhoads teamed with Judd Bobin, Andy Seckinger and Ryan Larson will move on to the state meet, along with alternates Ethan Karlinsey and Marty Neifert, after winning the district title in the 1,600-meter relay in a time of 3-minutes, 21.08 seconds.

Darhian Mills won both the 100-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles in state-leading times of 14.23 seconds and 42.68 for the girls team.

Michael Milcarek won the district title in the discus, throwing 163-feet, 9-inches. Milcarek also placed second in the shot put, throwing 51-feet, 9-inches to qualify for state.

Ruby Charney won the shot put with a throw of 37-feet, 75-inches and placed second in the discus with a throw of 109-feet, 5-inches for the girls team.

Other state qualifiers include Nick Laccinole in the 3,200-meters finishing third in a time of 9:12.23, and Ben Walchenbach in the triple jump finishing fourth with a jump of 43-feet, 75-inches.

Anna Richards qualified in three state events, placing second in both the long jump and triple jump with jumps of 17-feet, 2-inches and 36-feet, 11-inches. She also qualified in the 100-meter dash, placing fourth in a time of 12.8 seconds.

The state championships are held in Tacoma at Mt. Tahoma High school May 28-30.
