Inglemoor’s Demerath qualifies for state tennis tourney

Inglemoor freshman Brooke Demerath qualified for the 4A state singles tennis tournament with a stellar performance at the KingCo championships.

She went 4-1 at KingCo and will next play May 25-26 at state, which will be held at the Columbia Basin Racquet Club and Hanford High.

In the KingCo final, Issaquah’s Karina Chao defeated Demerath, 6-3, 6-3. Demerath then beat Skyline’s Eve Wasal to earn a state berth. (No score was available at post time.)

Earlier in the tourney, Demerath dispatched of opponents from Newport, Issaquah and Skyline by scores of 6-0, 6-1; 6-0, 6-0; and 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, respectively.
