The Bothell High School football team earned an impressive 43-13 victory at Pop Keeney Stadium in Bothell on Friday behind senior running back Sam McPherson’s five touchdowns.

The Cougars began the scoring with a field goal and a seven-yard touchdown run by Sam McPherson. A 22-yard touchdown run by McPherson extended the lead to 17-0 as the first quarter came to an end.

McPherson’s third touchdown of the game came on the Cougar’s next drive, a 28-yard run that put the senior over 100 yards for the game.

Shawn Munro would get into the scoring action as well, breaking free from the Wildcat defenders with a big 42-yard run for a touchdown, extending the lead to 31-0 to cap off the first-half scoring.

With three minutes remaining during the third quarter, McPherson capped a 46-yard drive with a one-yard touchdown run and a 37-0 lead.

The Wildcats finally earned their first score of the game with six minutes left in the game but McPherson would electrify the home crowd on the ensuing kickoff. An 80-yard kick return resulted in McPherson’s fifth touchdown of the game.

Bothell ran its record to 4-0 on the young season with the win.

The Cougars will play a Crest division game next week, as they travel to Woodinville for a 7 p.m. kickoff on Friday.
