More than 400 Northshore elementary students competed in the annual Great Pumpkin Run, hosted by the Bothell High School cross country teams on Oct. 27.

More than 400 Northshore elementary students competed in the annual Great Pumpkin Run, hosted by the Bothell High School cross country teams on Oct. 27.

Emma Nielson from Kokanee and Ian Strum from Eastridge captured the girls and boys sixth grade Pumpkin Championship – a 1200-meter race under the lights at the Bothell High School track and baseball fields.

Ansly Herron, Shelton View, and Austin Cool, Bear Creek, were the fifth-grade winners.

Other winners included:

Fourth grade – girls: Cindy Getz, Arrowhead, boys: Ezra Giesbrecht, Maywood

Third grade – girls: Malea McCoy, Kenmore; boys: Casey Larson, Wellington

Second grade – girls: Natalie Carol, Fernwood; boys: Zach Daniel, Canyon Creek

First grade – girls: Kylie Egert, Woodinville; boys: Taylor Blakeney, Westhill

Kindergarten – girls: McKenna Muller, Maywood; boys: Colby Ekelmann, Frank Love

The Great Pumpkin Race is the only all-Northshore School District elementary school cross country race of the season. Each race winner receives a Halloween pumpkin, decorated by an athlete on the Cougar cross country teams.
