Northshore athletes help Northwest Xplosion girls fastpitch team win state tournament

The Northwest Xplosion girls fastpitch team recently won the Washington State ASA tournament in Yakima, finishing with a 6-0 record.

The Northwest Xplosion girls fastpitch team recently won the Washington State ASA tournament in Yakima, finishing with a 6-0 record. The team is comprised of players from across Washington state, including Riley Garcia from Kenmore and Natalie Hayward from Bothell.

The week following ASA State, Xplosion traveled to Reno, Nevada to participate in Triple Crown USA Nationals. They competed against teams from California, Arizona and Texas, earning a spot in the platinum bracket, which included other top teams from the tournament. Xplosion finished fifth overall, with an 8-2-1 record.

Xplosion will finish out the current season in Huntington Beach at the Premier Girls Fastpitch Nationals August 1-8. The team qualified for the national tournament in June with a PGF Qualifier win in Hillsboro, Oregon.
