Washington’s FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) 14-U Baseball team, featuring five Northshore players, competed at the Sandy Koufax World Series in Vero Beach, Fla., last month.

The locals earned a 10-0 victory over Georgia in their opener, but then lost two straight to New York, 11-5, and Florida, 12-1, to exit the tourney. Puerto Rico won the World Series, beating New York, 10-3.

In the Georgia win, Bothell High’s Chandler Williams gave up one hit over six innings of pitching work, and Bothell High’s Jacob Remy and Cedar Park Christian’s Josh Krause had two RBIs each.

Other Northshore players were Inglemoor High’s Lane Bilbao and Woodinville High’s Tyler Milligan. The team was coached by Jordan Lettau and trained at Rijo Athletics in Woodinville.

The team took second at state and lost 2-0 to the Puget Sound Shockers in the western regionals championship game, but still qualified for the World Series.

Krause was awarded the top individual hitter of the state tournament and made the regionals all-tournament team with Bilbao, Remy and Williams.
