The BU14 Goal Rush soccer team won the State Recreation Cup to become champions of the Washington State Recreational Soccer Association.

The team won the quarter finals on Dec. 7, as they squashed the competition with a 5-1 lead over the Franklin Pierce Cougars in a match.

They then went to the state finals where they played their first morning game against the Bulldogs from Bainbridge Island and their second game, in the afternoon, against the Ballard Red Devils. They won both games to become the state champions.

The Goal Rush team has been to the finals three times in the past three years and, last year, won the Boys Under 13 (BU13) State Championship.

All of the boys in the Goal Rush team attend Northshore and Kenmore Junior High schools.
