The Bothell Cougars' baseball team improved to 2-1 on the season after beating the Irish of O'Dea, 5-1, on Saturday afternoon at home.

The Bothell Cougars’ baseball team improved to 2-1 on the season after beating the Irish of O’Dea, 5-1, on Saturday afternoon at home.

Bothell stormed out to an early 4-0 lead after three innings, with Henry Baillargeon going four strong innings for the win. Baillargeon scattered four hits and struck out four.

Offensively, senior Brian McAfee went 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored, while Mitch Vido went 2-for-3 with a game-high two RBIs.

 

Shorewood shuts out Inglemoor

Coming off a 16-1 rout of 3A Juanita on Friday, the Inglemoor baseball team’s bats were silent in a 3-0 shutout at the hands of Shorewood on Saturday afternoon at Shorewood.

Thunderbirds’ starter Kevin Moriarty pitched a gem, going four innings and allowing just one hit while striking out seven.

With the loss, the Vikings dropped to 2-1 on the season.

 

Cougar fastpitch drops a pair

Playing a pair of preseason exhibition matches on the road, the Bothell High fastpitch team lost to Kentwood, 3-1, and Kentlake, 6-1, last Saturday.

In the Kentwood game, Sammy Morris and Rhianna Bennett paced the offense, going 2-for-3.

Against Kentlake, Morris, Kelsey Morgan and Arista Honey banged out hits with Morris scoring the team’s only run.

The Cougars dropped to 0-4 on the season.

 

Vikings fall to 3A power Juanita

The Inglemoor fastpitch squad were outmatched by the firepower of 3A Juanita High on Friday night at home, falling to the Rebels 13-2 after five innings.

Juanita broke the game open with eight runs in the second inning, and then plated four more in the third to put the game away.

With the loss, the Vikings evened their record at 1-1 on the season.
