Inglemoor High School student Amber Rose has been named the WIAA 4A State Athlete of the Week for Oct. 19-25.

Rose won her second straight Kingco 4A cross country title on Oct. 25 by 18 seconds in a time of 17-minutes, 46-seconds.

The girls finished third overall in wet and muddy conditions at Lake Sammamish State Park. It is the team’s highest finish in 12 years. Rebecca Ledsham finished 10th overall in a time of 19:27 and Inglemoor had five girls in the top 30.

“I am extremely proud of the way our kids rose to the occasion and battled the elements,” Inglemoor coach Kelly Richards said. “They showed their true Viking spirit and worked together as a team.”

The boys team finished second overall at the league meet, breaking a tie with Redmond. The tie was broken by sixth-place finisher Stanley Wu. It was his first time running as a varsity runner at the KingCo Championships in his high school career.

Podium finishers for the boys included Gavin Parpart (16:03) in fourth place, Nick Laccinole (16:07) in fifth and Ethan Karlinsey in 13th place overall (16:44).

It was Inglemoor’s highest finish in 12 years as well.

Inglemoor had 87 athletes participating in the meet.

“it’s biggest team in history at the Kingco Championships,” Richards said.”Over 50 athletes recorded personal and season bests despite the muddy and slippery conditions.”
