The Inglemoor High School football team’s offense hit its stride Thursday but Newport beat the Vikings 49-31 at Pop Keeney Stadium in Bothell.

The Vikings fell behind 21-3 during the first half before Isaiah Lewis’ 35-yard touchdown run sparked the offense. Following a score by Newport, Lewis hit the end zone for the second time during the first half, this time from six-yards out. The 28-17 halftime deficit gave Inglemoor hope for a second half comeback.

Lewis continued to drive the momentum forward for Inglemoor, capping the team’s first second-half drive with a 35-yard touchdown run. The play cut the lead to 28-24. The run also put Lewis over the 100-yard mark in rushing for the game.

But three consecutive touchdowns by Newport put considerable distance between the Knights and the home team at 49-24.

Inglemoor found the end zone one more time before the end of the game, a 46-yard pass from Bryce Larson to Alex Zamudio.

The Vikings fell to 0-4 on the season with the loss. Inglemoor will try to earn its first victory of the year at 7 p.m. on Friday at Mount Si.
