In recent years, the once predominantly bedroom communities of Bothell and Kenmore have seen the growth of an economic core centered around biotechnology, computer technology, telecommunications and durable goods. Bothell is home to the University of Washington campus and Cascadia Community College. Kenmore hosts one of the last industrial ports on the northern shore of Lake Washington.

Shaw is a fourth generation Eastside native. His family were early homesteaders who worked the log and shingle mills in Issaquah, Redmond and the Upper Snoqualmie Valley from 1910 onward. A print media advertising consultant for a number of local community newspapers since 1986, Shaw's main focus has been on the local retail, major, national and real estate advertising categories. He has been special projects manager for Horvitz Newspapers (the former King County Journal) since 2002 and for Sound Publishing since 2006. Locally, Bill volunteers for the Issaquah Sister Cities Commission and is a member of Myrtle Lodge 108 in Issaquah and Lodge Alba 315 in Seattle.

With a career in business management, sales and customer service, Jim started his print and online media career at the Redmond Reporter ​as an Advertising Sales Representative, successfully partnering with his clients to help them achieve their goals. After two years he was promoted to Sales Manager of the Redmond Reporter where he continued to build and strengthen relationships with his clients and his staff. ​In April 2014, he was promoted to Regional Sales Manager over the Bellevue, Issaquah/Sammamish and Mercer Island Reporters. With his newly expanded role in Kirkland, Redmond and Bothell/Kenmore, Gatens is quite excited to be returning to those markets where he lives and worked. Jim believes in integrating the local paper into the community through active interaction. Taking part in the many wonderful activities each community has to offer. He attributes success in sales and readership to the familiarity and appreciation of the uniqueness of each community the newspaper covers. When Jim is not working he enjoys spending time with his partner Jorge and 3 adult children,​ walking his miniature schnauzer Mia, traveling, wine tasting, gardening and cooking elaborate dinners for friends and family.

Cheryl Helser-Garcia took over her Reporter inside-sales-representative post in May 2007. She moved to Washington in 1979 and took her first job at the Northshore Citizen newspaper. She has been in the newspaper business more than 25 years, mostly in customer service and production. She enjoys gardening, camping and quilt projects.

Chloe is was raised in the greater metro area of Omaha, Nebraska. She moved to Seattle in 2014 and fell in love with the mountains and the sea. Matt Phelps has been the regional editor of the Bothell and Kenmore Reporter newspapers since December 2013. He started as city reporter for the Kirkland Reporter in 2009 and was the sports editor for the Mercer Island Reporter for about 10 years. Phelps also served as regional assistant editor for the Bothell and Kenmore Reporter newspapers from August 2012 to November 2013 and is a University of Washington graduate.
