Bothell native qualifies for National moot court tournament

College of Wooster junior to compete at University of North Texas College of Law in January

Dawson Honey, a junior political science major at The College of Wooster has qualified for the American Moot Court Association National Tournament next month at the University of North Texas College of Law in Dallas.

Honey, a Bothell High School graduate, and his teammate sophomore Brianna Schmidt qualified by placing fourth at the Windy City Regional Tournament in November at Loyola University in Chicago.

For more than a decade, Wooster students have excelled in regional competition and this year, five two-person teams qualified for the AMCA nationals — the third-most of any college or university in the nation, according to a press release.

The College of Wooster offers students mentored undergraduate research, according to the release. Every Wooster senior works one-on-one with a faculty adviser to create an original research project, written work, performance or exhibition of art. In the process, each student develops independent judgment, analytical ability, creativity, project-management and time-management skills and strong written- and oral-communication skills. Founded in 1866, the college enrolls about 2,000 students.
