A loaded tractor-trailer took a turn near downtown Bothell, knocked over a power pole and sped away this morning, according to a witness, said Deputy Police Chief Henry Simon.

The hit-and-run accident occurred at State Route 522 and 101st Avenue Northeast.

At about 10:10 a.m., power went out in the downtown corridor and police blocked off SR 522 between Kaysner Way and SR 527 because the pole extended over some of the lanes.

Eastbound SR 522 is now open, however, westbound SR 522 between Kaysner Way and SR 527 is still closed, according to a city of Bothell press release sent at 1:45 p.m. Power is still out in several areas and crews are on the scene to repair the pole and restore power; it is not known at this time when power will be restored. Westbound SR 522 traffic is being redirected through downtown Bothell.

Simon said Washington State Patrol was looking for the truck, which had an out-of-state license plate, according to the witness. Police were also contacting local businesses who might have worked with the driver.
