Shimek slugs Inglemoor softball into league championship game

Inglemoor slugger Hannah Shimek knocked a walkoff homer to give the Viks a 2-1 win over Eastlake in the 4A KingCo softball tournament on Tuesday.

Her bottom-of-the-seventh heroics propelled Inglemoor into the championship game versus Woodinville at 6:30 p.m. today at Inglemoor High. The winner heads to state.

Inglemoor led 1-0 after two innings, Eastlake tied the game in the top of the seventh and then Shimek took charge.

Also for Inglemoor, Rachel Brown had two hits, Riley Garcia had one hit and one RBI and pitcher Mackenzie DeKay notched the win with seven strikeouts.

The loser of tonight’s game will take on today’s Skyline-Eastlake winner at 6:30 p.m. Thursday for the second spot to state.
