Bothell High alum Johnny Hekker was recently nominated for the NFL Rookie of the Week award.

Bothell High graduate Johnny Hekker, a punter for the St. Louis Rams, was nominated for the NFL Rookie of the Week award after helping his team to a 31-28 victory over the Washington Redskins last Sunday, Sept. 16.

For the game, Hekker, who played collegiately at Oregon State, averaged 54.3 yards per punt, including a game-long 66 yard boot in the fourth quarter. For the season, he has averaged 48.8 yards per punt.

In 2008, Hekker was honored as the Reporter’s Male Athlete of the Year.
