Incumbent Kenmore City Council member Allan Van Ness holds a commanding 45 percent of the vote in early primary election returns for position 6, according to King County Elections.

Kenmore resident Ken Smith is in second place with 35 percent of the vote, while Elizabeth Mooney has 18 percent of the vote. The top two candidates from the primary will move on to the general election in November.

Van Ness was first elected to the position in 2005.

The election will be certified on Aug. 20. TheĀ Reporter will update election results as they are released.
