Big first-inning lead holds up for Bothell against Newport | Prep softball

A big five run first inning for the Bothell High School softball team turned into an 11-3 victory against Newport on Monday.

The Cougars gave up three runs during the bottom of the first but maintained the lead throughout the game.

Becca Fortney led the Cougars with three RBI, while Megan Powers and Megan Marino finished with two RBI each.

Bothell will host Redmond at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
