Volunteers sought for Kenmore Art Show

A call for art-loving volunteers has been issued by the Arts of Kenmore, the not-for-profit organization that sponsors the annual Kenmore Art Show and oversees a gallery of rotating exhibits throughout the year in the Kenmore City Hall.
Now in its seventeenth year, the art show has become a major regional event showcasing the best paintings and drawings, miniatures, photography, digital/new media art, sculpture, artisan works and youth artwork from throughout the Pacific Northwest.
The juried show does not open until June 24 but work to prepare the winning art for exhibit begins well before. Volunteers are needed to help check in the art, hang the exhibit, label the winning entries, deal with various aspects of the popular opening-day reception, greet visitors, clean up after the show, and prepare artwork for delivery to buyers or return to the artists.
Anyone interested in helping is encouraged to visit www.artsofkenmore.org and click on “Volunteer: Help out with events.” Inquiries may be sent to Staci Adman, volunteer scheduler, at sadman@artsofkenmore.org. Or just come to a training session for volunteers to be held at 7 p.m. June 10 in Room 133 at Bastyr University.
“Our show wouldn’t happen without volunteers,” Adman said. “It is independently organized and run by volunteers and receives no government grants.”
The art show opens with a public reception at 5:30 p.m. on June 24, continuing through June 28, at Bastyr, 14500 Juanita Drive N.E., in Kenmore. Admission is free, though donations are encouraged to support the event, which generates funds for art grants to local schools.
Bastyr University and Arts of Kenmore are major sponsors of the show with additional support also received from 4Culture.
