“The Art of Kamishibai” opened Feb. 5 at the Arts of Kenmore Gallery in Kenmore City Hall. Presentation was given by Jennifer Schroeder, Moorlands Elementary Librarian, on bringing culture to the classroom from her global travels. Schroeder also gave a demonstration on Kamishibai storytelling.

The Moorland’s Kamishibai Literacy program is featured throughout February as recipient of the AOK Grants for Schools program, providing funding to improve the quality and availability of Arts education in our Kenmore public schools. Intended to enrich all Arts disciplines, requests for funding have provided classroom supplies, field trips, guest artists and other activities that enhance education in the Arts.

“The Art of Kamishibai” is made possible by sustaining support from the City of Kenmore and 4Culture, and AOK Membership. The AOK Grants for Schools is funded by annual art sales revenue at the Kenmore Art Show and the Gallery at Kenmore City Hall.
