Washington Journalism Education Association (WJEA) named Inglemoor High School student Jacoy Willis as Washington Journalist of the Year.

Willis, Inglemoor’s Nordic News editor-in-chief, received a $2,000 scholarship and her application portfolio becomes Washington’s entry in the national Journalism Education Association’s Sister Rita Jeanne High School Journalist of the Year competition.

“Jacoy is, without a doubt, one of the hardest working journalists I’ve had the privilege of working with in my 20 years as a newspaper adviser,” said Inglemoor Nordic News advisor Kirsten Vesely. “She is so deserving of this honor.”

WJEA consists of several organizations devoted to scholastic journalism and supporting journalism teachers and advisers in the state of Washington. The members of WJEA are involved in the teaching or advising of various forms of journalism, including the publishing of newspapers, yearbooks and magazines, as well as television and radio broadcasting and publishing on the Internet.
