Ethan Karlinskey might have spent most of his year focusing on the 800 meters, but that doesn’t mean that he has lost his chops for the 1,600 meter run.

Karlinskey won the 1,600 meters in 4 minutes, 25.66 seconds — a season PR — at a three-team meet on Thursday at Juanita High School in Kirkland. Teammate Wilson Turk took third, setting a new career-best time of 4:28.38.

The Inglemoor boys lost to Juanita 81-64, but beat Inglemoor 84-61. The Inglemoor girls dominated Liberty 99-41, and tied with Juanita 71-71.

With the Bellevue Invitational upcoming on Saturday, a handful of athletes — like Nick Laccinole, the state leader in the 1,600 and 3,200 — decided to rest.

Inglemoor senior Gavin Parpart won the 800 meters, setting a new career best mark of 2:01.47 in his only event of the day.

Junior Spencer Neher won the 3,200 meters with a time of 10:40.84.

The Viking boys swept the high jump competition, as senior Noel Azure won with a mark of 5 feet, 8 inches, and Chinedu Ugokwoli and Mitchell Yonemitsu tied for second at 5 feet, 6 inches.

Azure also won the pole vault at 12 feet, 3 inches. Ugowkoli won the triple jump at 40 feet, 10 inches and took second in the long jump.

The Viking girls took the top three spots in the 800 meters. Rebecca Ledsham won in 2:21.11, while Bailey Fjelstul took second and Hannah Cottnair took third.

Inglemoor swept the girls’ 100 meter hurdles, as well. Freshman Hallie Wall won the 100 meter event in 17.91 and took second in the 300 meter hurdles.

The Inglemoor girls’ 4×200 relay team of Devon Olson, Ifeoma Emeka, Emily Reid and Samantha Bell won in 1:50.87.

Cottnair, Fjelstul, Ledsham and Rebecca Crawford teamed up to win the 4×400 meter relay in 4:16.91.

Viking senior Ruby Charney won the shot put with a mark of 35 feet, 1 inch and took second in the discus competition, throwing 89 feet, 7 inches.

Next, the Vikings are scheduled to compete at the Bellevue Invitational, beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, at Bellevue High School.
