Skyline hands Bothell 5-2 loss in KingCo 4A tournament | Prep baseball

The season came to an end for the Bothell High baseball team on Monday, April 9, with a 5-2 loss to Skyline in the KingCo 4A tournament at Bannerwood Park in Bellevue.
The Cougars beat Eastlake 9-1 in the first round on May 6, and lost 6-0 to Woodinville in the league tournament semifinals on May 7.
Bothell took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on Monday, but surrendered four runs in the bottom of the frame and trailed the rest of the way despite a 9-7 advantage in base hits.
Jack Rooney pitched a complete game for Skyline, going seven innings with one earned run and five strikeouts.
Alec Dingle, Jack Hadley and Quinn Gleed split pitching duties for Bothell.
Brody Ponti hit the lone RBI for the Cougars, singling to center field to score Carson Ryder.
Skyline moves on to play the No. 1 seed from the Greater St. Helens League on May 14 for a place in the state tournament.
Monday saw the final game in a Cougar uniform for Bothell seniors Willie Schulte, Blake Ihrig, Kyle Edwards, Tyler Legault, Miles Jackson, Jacob Yost, Gleed, Hadley, Ryder and Dingle.
It was also the final game for Paul Moody, who steps down as head coach after 18 seasons.
