Sophia Swain tossed a cherry atop regular season finale for the Inglemoor High softball team: a three-run homer to close the scoring in a 17-0 rout of Newport on Wednesday in Kenmore.
Swain finished 3-3 with five RBIs, her home run coming in the bottom of the fourth inning.
The Vikings (15-5 overall, 12-4) won their third consecutive game, and finished tied with Eastlake (14-5, 12-4) in the Class 4A KingCo league standings.
It was the first home run for Swain in several weeks, the last homer coming on April 29 in a 12-1 win over Mount Si.
Hannah Shimek had a good day as well, going 3-3 with two RBIs. Michelle Fusco went 2-2 with two RBIs and a walk.
The Vikings used three pitchers — Tegan McDonald, Talia Starr and Kendall Levy — who combined for three hits and six strikeouts in five innings pitched.
Next, Inglemoor is scheduled to begin play in the district softball tournament on Monday, May 16 at Inglemoor High School. The Vikings will either play at 4 p.m. or 6:30 p.m.
