Inglemoor softball starts season with two big wins

The Inglemoor High School softball team has started the season with two big wins.

Vikings win against Newport

Inglemoor defeated Newport, 9-7, in a back-and-forth affair on Tuesday.

The Vikings were down 7-6 during the top of the seventh inning when O’Nalisa Hall doubled off of H Hirai, driving in Hannah Shimek and Mackenzie DeKay for two runs.

O’Nalisa Hall led Inglemoor to the victory by driving in four runs. She went 3-for-4 at the plate. Hall drove in runs on a single in the first and a double in the seventh.

Inglemoor took an early lead in the first inning, as they scored two runs when Hall singled with two outs in the first inning.

The Vikings evened things up at three during the top of the third inning, as DeKay singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.

Newport scored three runs in the fifth inning on a home run.

DeKay earned the win for Inglemoor from the pitching circle, tossing seven innings and surrendering seven runs, three of which were earned, seven hits, striking out seven, and walking one.

DeKay didn’t allow a single run, as the Vikings softball team defeated Edmonds-Woodway, 6-0, on March 14.

DeKay allowed just five hits and induced a fly out from Kyra Collingridge to end the game.

An early lead helped propel Inglemoor, as they scored on a single by Hannah Shimek and a walk by DeKay during the first inning.

DeKay earned the win for Inglemoor, as she pitched seven innings, allowing zero runs, five hits, while striking out 15 batters with no walks. Mariah Woolary took the loss for Edmonds-Woodway. She threw four innings, allowing two runs, six hits, striking out four, and walking one.

The Vikings collected ten hits during the contest on offense, as Shimek, Camryn Scott, Hall, and Haley King each collected multiple hits.

Jackie Lovelace went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Edmonds-Woodway.
