Inglemoor boys soccer defeats Kamiak in overtime

Inglemoor outlasted Kamiak, 3-2, in overtime to advance in the 4A Wes-King boys soccer tournament on May 4.

With Kamiak leading 1-0 after a goal in the 21st minute, Inglemoor’s Nic Grotle scored goals in the 44th and 56th minutes to put the Viks ahead. Lucas Hakamada assisted on both goals.

After Kamiak tied the game to force overtime, Inglemoor’s Timur Akdemir scored the golden-goal game-winner in the 84th minute off assists from Grotle and Owen Klee.

“Our guys said, we stepped up the pressure there the second half and that was good,” Inglemoor coach Kevin McGibbon said in a HeraldNet article. “They saw that as a good thing. It’s a pretty in-tune group and sensing the needs of the game and what the other team is doing.”

The Viks will face Redmond on the Mustangs’ pitch at 6 p.m. May 7 in a loser-out match.

In other Northshore action, Issaquah defeated North Creek, 2-1, on May 4 to end the Jaguars’ season.
