Diners support local as restaurants serve up some delicious possibilities

It’s no surprise that the hospitality industry has been among the hardest hit over the last year. While many restaurants and pubs have found innovative ways to stay connected with customers and keep staff working, adaptations can only go so far.

Today, spring brings the promise of new opportunities – to revisit our old favorites and discover some delicious new dining options. Yes, it’s time to Dine Out, Snohomish County!

A partnership with the Daily Herald and the City and County municipalities, the campaign encourages visitors and residents alike to get out and support local restaurants and businesses throughout the month of June. The event hosts also offset the usual registration fee this year to support restaurants’ participation at what has been a challenging time.

“Dine Out Snohomish County is a great promotion to welcome back more guests as restrictions are starting to lift,” says Kristen Nannery, of Shawn O’Donnell’s American Grill and Irish Pub. “We’re excited to show off the best of our Irish-American fare at a great deal. I think it will attract new customers that will surely fall in love with our family restaurant!”

Getting hungry? Here’s how it works:

Restaurants will offer pre-determined menu options at a discount, such as a three-course dinner for $30 and/or $45, or a two-course lunch for $15.

Diners simply visit heraldnet.com/dineout, where they can link to all the participating restaurants and their Dine Out menus, and see whether they’re offering in-house / patio dining, take-out or delivery, depending on what works best for them.

At Shawn O’Donnell’s, for example, following a first course of Celtic Green Salad, diners can choose from fish and chips, shepherd’s pie or Guinness beef stew at lunch. For dinner, corned beef and cabbage replaces the fish option, with Irish bread pudding rounding out the menu for dessert.

Vegan diners will love the array of possibilities at Café Wylde, while seafood fans can tuck into lunch and dinner selections at Ivar’s – Mukilteo Landing. American food is the order of the day for a Dine Out lunch at Who’s on First, or relax with a glass of wine and either lunch or dinner at the Double Barrel Wine Bar and Lounge.
