The following is a release from the city of Bothell:

After only nine days on the job, Bothell’s new Interim City Manager Bob Jean has already met individually with most department directors and City Councilmembers, is getting up to speed quickly on budget issues and is weighing in on major City undertakings.

The Bothell City Council formally appointed Jean during its June 14 meeting. He started at the City the next day.

A veteran city and county manager with more than 40 years of local government management experience, Jean will help the Bothell City Council in its search for the next regular city manager, among other duties.

Jean holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Puget Sound and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California. He teaches local government leadership at the University of Washington, Graduate School of Public Administration.

Jean retired from full-time city management in 2010 after 15 years as city manager for the city of University Place, where he directed its town center redevelopment and economic development efforts. His experience includes:

· Helping start the new city of Newcastle as their first city manager

· Serving as the city manager for Puyallup

· Serving for six months in 2012 as the interim city administrator for Lake Forest Park.
