According to police, the victim said she went to Kenmore Lanes on Northeast Bothell Way about 11:30 p.m. May 12 when a black male carrying a handgun forced his way into her car and took her to look for marijuana.

Described as a Bothell woman, 23, police said the victim has a medical-marijuana card and the suspect apparently believed she could find some marijuana for him.

Police reports said the story came out in bits and pieces after they were called to an address on 19th Place West at about 1:33 a.m. May 13. In the end, the victim, whose name was not released, reported the incident as follows.

She arrived at Kenmore Lanes to pick up her brother’s friend, who was intoxicated. The friend never showed, but the black male forced his way into her 1993 Ford Tempo and demanded to be taken to a “grower.” With a handgun pointed at her, the victim drove off, but said she was followed by a black Nissan Sentra. The victim said she did not know where to take the suspect and apparently simply drove around for a while. At one point, the suspect told her to pull over and forced the victim into the back seat, duct taping her hands together. The suspect then drove the Ford himself.

Eventually, the victim said the suspect asked her about someone she had dropped off previously that evening, making the suspect believe she had been followed earlier in the day. The two ended up at the Cedar Park apartment complex in Kenmore, where the victim was forced to call a friend. She told the friend she needed money and asked him to come down, the suspect allegedly stating he was going to rob the man.

When the second victim — a Lynnwood resident, age 29 — showed up, he got into the car only to be confronted by the armed suspect, who drove away with both victims in the vehicle.

The female victim said the suspect headed north on 61st Avenue Northeast and forced both his unwilling passengers out of the car at a spot in the 2300 block of Barker Road. Kenmore police said the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office and Brier police found the victim’s car abandoned, left with the keys in the ignition and the motor running.

Officials said the initial victim feels the suspect must have known her or someone she knows. During the day prior to the incident, she said she received several phone calls asking that she obtain marijuana for someone identified only as “Doug.” The victim later stated she may have known the driver of the Nissan that followed her car and that person may have been “Doug.”

The primary suspect was described as about 38 years old, 260 pounds and roughly 5-foot-10. He was wearing a blue denim jacket, khaki pants and black boots. Police impounded the female victim’s Ford as evidence. The incident has been turned over to detectives for further investigation.
