Democratic incumbents lead 45th Legislative District by wide margin

Election results: Dhingra, Goodman and Springer look to win.

So far, the Democratic incumbents are holding their ground in the 45th Legislative District.

Early election results for the district show Manka Dhingra in the lead for State Senator, Roger Goodman in the lead for State Representative Pos. 1, and Larry Springer in the lead for State Representative Pos. 2, according to King County Election results as of 3:42 p.m. Nov. 23.

For State Senate, Democratic incumbent Manka Dhingra has garnered 62.85% of votes, or about 41,300 votes, while Republican challenger Ryika Hooshangi currently has 37.02% of the vote, or about 24,324 votes. Write-ins are at 0.13% of the vote, totaling in at 85.

For State Representative Pos. 1, early results show that Democrat Roger Goodman has garnered 69.52% of votes, or about 45,644 votes, with Republican Cherese Bourgoin trailing behind with 30.37% of the votes or about 19,940 votes. There are 72 write-ins, which currently make up 0.11% of the vote.

For State Representative Pos. 2, Democrat Larry Springer has garnered 72.65% of votes, or about 47,189 votes with newcomer John Gibbons, a Republican, coming up behind with 27.16% of the vote, or about 17,641 votes. Position 2 write-ins made up 0.19% of the vote, totaling in 123.

VOTER TURNOUT

So far, King County Elections has counted over 894,249 ballots. In the 45th Legislative District, voting turnout came out to just over 69.69% with 67,250 ballots counted of the 96,495 registered voters.
