Evergreen Academy students fired up for International Day of Peace

Evergreen Academy students in Bothell danced, voiced their peace slogans and raised their pinwheels before placing them in their natural organic garden this morning on the United Nation’s International Day of Peace.

The kindergarten through sixth-grade students, some hand in hand, walked and skipped through the grass field to the garden to participate in the Pinwheels for Peace Project from about 9:30-9:45 a.m. The students’ colorful pinwheels featured peace slogans and drawings of peace signs, animals and more.

Evergreen art specialist Jeanine Lipp led the program, speaking to the students about peace, with representatives from each grade sharing their thoughts, as well.

“Peace means no war, and war means no peace,” was the slogan for Ellen Garza’s third-grade class.

Principal Dana Mott’s pinwheel read: “Be the change you want to see in the world.”
