A fatal wreck closed I-405 in Bothell July 8 from around 9:20 p.m. until the next morning.

Alan L. Mooney, 65, died after his semi-truck and trailer were traveling north on I-405 onto westbound State Route 522 when he struck a concrete barrier and went off the ramp, falling to the freeway below. The truck, carrying “miscellaneous goods,” finally came to rest halfway between the north and southbound lanes of I-405.

Five other vehicles were damaged but no additional injuries were reported.

The truck’s contents littered both sides of the freeway. Washington State Patrol said the northbound lanes would likely remain closed until further notice, but some southbound lanes should open late Friday evening.

Southbound lanes opened around 4 a.m. on July 9, and northbound lanes opened around 6 a.m.
